What Does an MOT Test Check?
An MOT test is a legal requirement for any vehicle over three years old. It checks that your vehicle meets the minimum safety and environmental standards set by the DVSA. Driving without a valid MOT certificate can invalidate your insurance and result in a fine of up to £1,000. At G&J MOT Centre our qualified testers work through over 30 inspection points covering:

Understanding Your MOT Result
Pass
Your vehicle has met the minimum DVSA safety and environmental standards. Your new MOT certificate is valid for 12 months from the test date or from the expiry of your current certificate if you renew early. You can drive away the same day.
Fail
Your vehicle has one or more dangerous or major faults that must be repaired before it can be driven legally on public roads. We will provide a clear written quote for all remedial work. Once repairs are completed your vehicle is retested free of charge at G&J MOT Centre.
Advisory
Your vehicle has passed but our tester has noted items that are not currently serious enough to fail but may become so in the future. These are recorded on your certificate and we recommend monitoring or addressing them at your next service. We will advise you honestly on the urgency of each item noted.
